This is what we are up to this week...
In math we will be exploring area and perimeter. Some students will continue to take timed multiplication drills and complete the practice log until all facts are mastered. We have been working on multiplication since October--it is imperative that all third graders know the facts!
In science we will finish up Chapter 6 on plant and animal adaptations. I will give a test on Friday. I am sending home the next science project which is due in a month, on February 20.

Many students are not completing and turning in math homework. This is unexceptable! Please make a habit of checking your child's planner every night. Also, please check the behavior section at the front. This is one way we communicate with you. I will try to initial each student's planner daily, although this takes a lot of time away from instruction.
Also many students are not prepared for class. Some do not have the basics, such as pencils and crayons. Please make sure your child has pencils, pens, crayons, colored pencils, scissors, a dry erase marker, and a small pencil sharpener. In the past I have provided community supplies for those who occasionally needed them. But within a short amount of time these supplies were used, taken, or lost. I no long provide supplies. We do not have a working pencil sharpener in our classroom. Many students do not respect the things that have been provided for them. We can do better!
