I hope you all enjoyed the holidays with your familiy and friends! I know I did. Now I am refreshed and ready to tackle Second Semester.
This is what we are up to this week...
In math we will be exploring and learning the 8's multiplication table and the related division facts. I will give a test on 8's on Friday. This test will not be timed.
I will continue to give timed drills on the multiplication tables. Students will be required to complete and turn in a daily practice log. It is imperative that all students master the multiplication facts because later this month we will be moving on to new standards.
In science we will be starting our study of the Habitats of Georgia (Chapters 6 and 7 in our text). This is a really fun unit! I will be assigning one project--details coming soon.
First Semester Honors Day is this Thursday. Look for more information to come home on Tuesday.
New morning routines...students will be dismissed to classrooms at 7:30 instead of 7:40. In my homeroom, students will use this time to prepare for the day, listen to announcements and work on Accelereated Math assignments. Students are counted tardy at 800, but I want to take advantage of this time.
More changes to our morning routines will be outlined by Dr. McGuire. These changes are being implemented for the safety and protection of our students.
