I want to teach my students the importance of setting goals. So, this week your child will set her/his own goals in the following math areas: math facts, objective mastery in Accelerated Math, and level mastery in Math Facts in a Flash. Look for the goal sheet in your child's binder. This task is a bit ambitious, but I hope to get it off the ground because it really is an important life skill.
In math we will be exploring the 3's, 5's, and 10's multiplication tables. We will also be learning about division and its relationship to multiplication. Your child should be studying multiplication facts every day. There will be a timed test on the 3's, 5's, and 10's on Friday. I will also administer an assessment on the concepts we have worked on this week.
I am sending home last Friday's quiz and timed test. Please sign and return them.
In science we will be learning about Georgia's natural resources and how they are used. I hope to send out the requirements and choices for the science project this week.
This week we will also concentrate on being Bucket Fillers, not Bucket Dippers. Ask your child what this means.
The behavior I want to reinforce is listening to the teacher and to each other during instructional time. This shows respect for others and allows for teaching and learning to take place. Please have a discussion with your child about showing respect during the school day. I try to create pockets of the day for your child to have a chance to talk freely with friends. But--when instruction time begins, I am expecting students to stop talking and playing and focus on the lesson. Thanks for you support!
I am not sure how the RSS feature is working for you. When I tried it, I got the blog sent to my Favorites in the tab called Feeds. This is not really what I wanted to happen, so I will keep trying to get updates to your email.
Please feel free to comment to my blogs if you think it will benefit others.
Have a great week!
