Estimating sums

There is good online practice on these topics at
http://www.ixl.com/math/grade-3.
Look for practice on place value, addition properties,
estimation, and 3-digit addition. Explore the site for
more challenges. You don't need an account...visit
as a guest.
Science
Identifying sources of heat--"Hot Stuff" exploration
STEM Challenge--create an insulated box that will keep hot water hot (in class)
Test on Chapter 4, Heat, on Friday--study a little every

If your child wants to explore more on the topic of heat, go to http://www.brainpop.com/

Go to Science, then Energy, then Heat.
Reminders
Math homework is due the day after it is assigned.
Conference Afternoon is this Thursday. The copier was
broken on Friday so I was unable to send out a schedule. Look for it to come home on Monday. Many of you have
already confirmed a time with me on other days. If you
have not, this is your chance to request a conference. I
will send home a confirmation when the schedule is set.
Remember that Thursday is not the only day for
conferences. Ms. Moore and I are available most
Monday and Tuesday afternoons.
If you have not already done so, please provide your
email in the box at the right to automatically receive
updates of this blog. Be sure to validate your request
when prompted.
Ms. Moore and I encourage all students to work on
keyboarding shills at home.
I like http://www.bbc.co.uk/guides/z3c6tfr. It's fun
and free!
